Meal Services

Elijah’s Promise harnesses the power of food to support individuals and community food systems. We serve over 35,000 meals per year through our community soup kitchen located at 18 Neilson St, and through our mobile meal program which serves at designated locations throughout the week.

Community Soup Kitchen

Since the start of the pandemic, we have seen a tremendous increase in need at the Community Soup Kitchen. We are now serving triple the number of meals a month with over 375,000 free meals served last year.

We serve all who come through our doors and take pride in preparing the most delicious and healthy meals possible for our guests. For the safety of our guests and staff, our meals are currently served to-go.

During the growing season, Elijah’s Promise works diligently to “rescue” food from local farms, farmers markets, and gleaning programs through partnerships with Farmers Against Hunger NJ and REPLENISH. These efforts enable us to source Jersey Fresh produce at both our salad and hot food bar.

We believe that a nutritious meal is a right, not a privilege.

Mobile Meal Program

A game changer is on the road in central New Jersey – and the winners are needy families getting free, nutritious meals.

Elijah’s Promise already serves thousands every month at its Community Soup Kitchen, and we are excited to expand! Our new food truck allows us to serve over 2,500 meals per month to highly food insecure neighbors who can’t get to the Community Soup Kitchen.

Our mobile meals program is available at specific locations throughout the week.  Look for our food truck at the parking lots of places of worship, senior centers and municipal complexes. Our full schedule is listed below.

Whether homeless, food insecure or simply in temporary trouble, those served by Elijah’s Promise Mobile Meals will benefit from the generosity of our community.  Check us out in the local news!

Best Practices

Per the Objective of the Elijah’s Promise Strategic Plan, we will share best practices from Elijah’s Promise programs. As such, the following PowerPoint lays out the beginnings of our food truck journey. Please click the image below to download.
