Elijah’s Promise Never Closes Its Doors

It’s days like today, when things seem the hardest and luck is at its worst, that our promise never to miss a day in over 30 years of serving our guests hot, free meals is most important. We’ve had folks lined up all morning despite the flood conditions; our staff and our facilities are fortunately safe and able to fulfill our mission and change lives with food today. Thank you to everyone who makes our mission possible today and every day!

Below are some scenes from today’s all-hands effort to ensure our community had access to free, hot food despite the floods.

Keith delivered meals by foot today to our senior neighbors down the street when vehicles couldn’t get through.
On Jessica’s first day with EP as a social work student intern, she helped prepare 100 extra emergency meals and 100 extra snack bags for the emergency shelter set up at a neighboring school.
When other staff couldn’t get into New Brunswick today, our Development Associate Stacy stepped up to ensure every meal could still be prepared today.
Guests have been seriously affected by the flooding around New Brunswick and beyond, but as ever we have remained open to ensure that every guest is fed today.
