Promise Culinary School

Founded in 1997, the Promise Culinary School provides life-changing job training to teach the skills necessary for employment in the Food Service industry.  The program is an intensive 4-to-6-month, state-certified job training program. Since its inception, the Promise Culinary School has trained over 850 individuals – mostly low-income or individuals on public assistance, people with disabilities, homeless, or individuals seeking to upgrade their employability to achieve a living wage and better life.

At the school, students receive instruction in math, communication, life and job readiness skills, which work to complement their intensive training in culinary arts. Students also complete an externship at a local food service establishment to receive hands-on job training to transition from school to work. Of those who graduate, approximately 90 percent achieve sustained employment in the food industry.
